Baby 4 months – 9 months

The developmental milestone of your baby gaining head control means that you are moving on from the fourth trimester and into more options carrying your baby.

4-5 Months. Once your baby has head control, your baby will likely sleep a little less in the carrier and you may want your baby to face outwards (FFO = forward facing out) to see more of the world. This position is ONLY for babies with strong head control as babies unable to hold their own head do potentially risk blocking their own airway. Be safe.

6-8 Months. Can your baby sit up unaided? If so, you can now carry baby on your back. Most baby carriers offer a back carrying position. Find out how to make yours work.
