Secret Santa Baby Cafe Fundraiser

Oxford Sling Library decided to do a Christmas fundraiser for Baby Cafe in response to most of their funding being cut in 2016.

Baby Cafe aviva pic
Initially we had a Baby Cafe branded money tin out at sling library sessions but found that it hadn’t collected that much. We made the decision to do a secret Santa fundraiser via the sling hires. Usually our slings are £3 to hire for a fortnight (with the usual deposits and T&C’s). The sling library was going to be closed for a month over Christmas so we decided to charge £5 for the month away that included the £2 per hire donation to Baby Cafe. Of course, some hirers needed their Christmas hire to start before the last sling library of the year so we had a staggered start to our collection. In January 2017, we calculated that we had collected £118.50 for Baby Cafe. Well done to all our hirers for hiring in December until January, which meant that our secret Santa donation was so successful! Thank you to everyone involved.

For more information about the Oxford Baby Cafe group, see their website or Facebook page.

Josie (Oxford Sling Library HQ) spent 4x days with Je Porte Mon Bebe last week learning about their Original wrap, Basic wrap, short Original wrap, Little Wrap Without a Knot (ring sling) and their Physio Carrier. JPMBB teach breastfeeding in a sling as a crucial element to the training as well as seated sideways and off-centre positioning in the sling. Here’s a fantastic vid for what’s possible using the JPMBB Original wrap.
